OBJECTIVE To
pursue a career as a business manager, billing specialist, or business computer
applications developer. ACHIEVEMENTS
WORK HISTORY Genesis
ElderCare Hospitality Services 101 East State Street Kennett Square, Pennsylvania Currently I am employed in the Genesis
Hospitality Services Business Office as the Business Analyst.
My primary responsibility is processing the accounts receivable for the
Allegheny/ Midwest, New England, Southern, Chesapeake, and Mid Atlantic Regions.
I also prepare invoices and expense reports for the accounts payable coordinator
and track the dietary department expenses for all accounts on a weekly basis.
These tasks require answering vendor questions, setting up vendors,
posting cash receipts, working on collections, answering customer billing
questions, reconciling the sales journal to the general ledger, reconciling the
cash receipts journal to the bank statement and preparing financial
presentations as needed by the Vice President or Area Directors.
There is a level of support to management that this position requires
which changes greatly from one day to the next. At the time that I came on board with Hospitality
Services many financial processes needed to be evaluated and standardized.
Also communications between managers needed to be further developed to be
made more efficient. My
contributions have resulted in increased standards of financial reporting and
office productivity. January 1998 - November 1998 101 East State Street Kennett Square, Pennsylvania During this period I was employed in the Genesis
Health Ventures Retirement Plan Office as a Customer Service Representative. In
this position my primary responsibilities included answering retirement plan
participants questions, communicating the rules of the plan and processing
distribution and hardship requests. I also made payroll corrections, updated the
payroll system with new address information, documented all transactions and was
responsible for letters to benefit designees and plan participants. The
environment within the Retirement Plan Office was fast paced and required
teamwork. There was not a set list
of responsibilities, because it was necessary to aid co-workers with tasks as
they arose in order to maintain an efficient workplace. The position I held in the Retirement Plan Office was
similar to solving a never‑ending puzzle of problems and solutions. There
was always a new facet of the Retirement Plan that was uncovered to keep the
work from becoming too familiar. It was this element of the job that I enjoyed
the most. It required a quick mind and strong problem solving skills. Certain
situations required patience and understanding. This was true when an occasional
dissatisfied plan participant may not understand certain areas of the retirement
plan. It brings me a great deal of satisfaction to have resolved these
confrontations. Enabling participants to understand that the Retirement
Plan is a benefit that they will need in their future was my contribution to
this department. August 1997
- December 1997 P.O. Box 363 Hatteras, North Carolina 27943 During this period I was employed by All Decked Out,
owned by Dale Cashman, a company that manufactures handcrafted outdoor
furniture. My responsibilities included storing, planing, joining, drilling,
sanding and recognizing good cedar from unusable cedar lumber. I learned to
recognize the individual parts of All Decked Out furniture and how to properly
label, assemble, package and ship the merchandise. In a short time, my
responsibilities grew. I began selling the furniture to customers at the store
and over the phone. Unlike the many physical tasks, selling the furniture
required good communication skills, business etiquette, calculating sales
discounts and shipping costs. My contributions to this company allowed it to
exceed the previous years gross sales and to maintain a safe workplace. EDUCATION
